This is a musical MIDI system: an instrument and a DJ booth.
If the music layer is not real, Bastion is not Bastion. Mapping Universalis, through the Mayan Mapper, turns pads, keys, knobs and faders into one performance language. In a one-hour live session the DJ booth ran as a single instrument: two Maschine MK2 units in mirrored configuration, Traktor Kontrol X1, Komplete Kontrol M32 and Hercules DJControl Mix — five registered controllers — driving Traktor Pro 4 and djay Pro at the same time. The same mapper has been used on iPhone, iPad, Surface Duo 1, Windows 10, Windows 11 and MacBook Pro. That rig is evidence, not a ceiling: more MIDI surfaces can be registered, keep their identity, and still play music first.

A MIDI note carries the whole equipment record.
Mayan MIDI is not just verbs. A pad, key or fader is not “play” or “cue” and nothing else. Inside the note — in the Mayan MIDI nomenclature — travels the ministerial inventory number, maintenance state, physical location of the equipment, and who currently holds it. The same name also says whether that object carries audio, video, MIDI, system, inventory or maintenance. Mapping Universalis keeps that identity when the gesture is performed.

Bastion does not hard-wire a pad to one application. Mapping Universalis separates the controller's identity, the player's gesture and the destination. That separation makes the dual-Maschine mirror possible, lets Traktor Pro 4 and djay Pro coexist, and allows the same performance language to reach sound, light and visuals without erasing the original MIDI event.

Seven working responsibilities, one musical system. Monitor + Learn is backed by the live capture and mapper surfaces. Nomenclature + Namespace has a versioned identity registry for the left/right mirror, channels and buses. Source Manager draws from the endpoint, port and controller-roster registries. The Native Instruments bridge is supported by preserved Traktor settings, controller metadata and operator-live evidence; the djay Pro bridge has canonical action catalogs and exported mapping files. The interface gathers real components that already exist in the repository and were exercised through the live performance environment.

beyond a dj booth pages and mappings can address decks, transport, mixing, filters, FX, stems, samples, loops, browsing, recording and audio. The same surface can change context to control Sonorum, lighting, image, cartography or other Bastion actions. The current inventory demonstrates the architecture; it does not limit it.
